Labview arduino code

In this opportunity we are going to learn how to manipulate our Arduino board from National Instruments LabVIEW, from the installation of the tools we need to the programming and compilation of our programs, for which we will see a couple of basic examples.

For this tutorial, it will be assumed that we already have our Arduino board, the Arduino IDE installed and the LabVIEW software from National Instruments. Perhaps, if you have already worked with Serial communication either with any microcontroller and LabVIEW you may have already installed the NI Visa plug-in, however if it is not the case we will explain below the steps necessary to perform its installation.

To be able to work and enable the ports and communication interfaces from LabVIEW we have to install the NI Visa add-in as mentioned and fortunately National Instruments offers it for free from its official website. To proceed to install it we will download it from here.

Labview programs with arduino

On a professional level, it has been an enriching experience since the work has allowed a development in different areas, such as alternative internal combustion engines, communication and the possibilities of working with oscilloscopes and of course, the development in LV graphical programming. The biggest personal challenge has been to become familiar with a programming language from scratch and to learn about oscilloscope communications and oscilloscope operation. Learning something from scratch always involves more effort, but also brings more satisfaction.

LabVIEW is a graphical programming environment used to develop sophisticated measurement, test and control systems through graphical icons and wires that look like a flowchart. It offers integration with thousands of hardware devices and provides hundreds of built-in libraries for advanced analysis and data visualization. For the implementation of the program it was necessary to make use of additional tool kits such as:

Its development environment (Arduino IDE) allows the electronic programming of home electronic devices, from home automation to various toys, such as remote-controlled cars or even homemade robots.

However, we recommend that you have programming tutorials in C and its derivatives at hand. It will also help if you have a basic knowledge of electronics and especially microcontrollers.

Arduino and some applications at coursera.org by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. «In this course we will use Arduino UNO to make two prototypes that show the operation of devices, such as a cyclist’s vest and a pillbox.

It is not required to have programming knowledge; however, as you advance in the study of this course you will probably need to reinforce and investigate some of the aspects explained here.
